| 4/23/12- Candle Burning (for Brian)
Every time I close my eyes I can see you Standing there, we’re closing space As my lips come find you.
For a moment all is lost And we are separated From ourselves, from our bodies Two people floating.
Nothing can interfere We’re invincible here Safe in your arms Shivering from the cold.
Your body blocks the wind The world within Nobody else matters to me Can’t feel the glass shatter.
I don’t want to let go Because I know That all will come rushing back in Water overflowing.
The people staring The world pretending to care Lies, cheating, and despair I don’t want to remember.
So let’s close our eyes And slip away And never wake up from this slumber Sleep all day.
We can feel the sun Warm on our cheeks Bright is the sun And so are these sheets.
Can we please lay right here For a moment longer The world is cold, bitter, old And I don’t want to go out there. We are here today Don’t want to worry about yesterday Or even tomorrow Please stay.
Winter has gone and it’s about summer Friends have gone away A new page But I am here to stay.
Where I feel safe Safe from harm And the monsters that find me When I’m alone.
But with you I’m home I’ll be the flame to your candle If you just light my way Night and day.
So just close your eyes Don’t make a sound Just the sound of our breathing Two hearts beating.
Safe and sound The here and now Don’t you let go; This new light I have found.
You’re everything Can’t you feel my heart beat Incomplete, when I’m not around you So let’s close our eyes And not wake up until the world ends.

4/21/12- The Lion is Brave, And So Are We
It’s times like this When I miss you the most. Nights like this When I just want to hold you close.
Because the nights seem long Without you by my side Because when you’re gone The sadness comes to life.
Like a lion’s roar That I can’t ignore A burning in my chest I can’t put to rest.
It’s times like this When I want to feel your warmth Nights like this That I long for your sweet kiss.
Lips locked our hearts on fire Can’t put out the flame We’re only burning brighter Baby, we’ll burn this whole city down.
Like a lion’s roar That I can’t ignore A burning in my chest I can’t put to rest.
It’s times like this When I breathe your scent Nights like this When I just want to breathe you in.
Because the nights seem so long Without you by my side Because when you’re gone The sadness comes to life.
Like a lion’s roar That I can’t ignore A burning in my chest I can’t put to rest.
It’s times like this That I really miss you a lot Nights like this I feel like a sinking boat.
But when I close my eyes I can see your face And in that moment the waters are calm And I am not afraid.
Because no matter how far away That you may be You’ll always be here Footprints in my memory.
You’re like a lion’s roar That I can’t ignore A burning in my chest That I don’t want to put to rest.
Because you’re everything I want And everything I need You’re the very air that I breathe And because of you I am free.
I am the sun shining in your window Every morning when you wake up I am the blue bird singing I am the coffee in your morning cup.
The joy, the happiness that lifts you up I am the ocean, I am the storm I am yesterday, and tomorrow, and the future, And forever, and eternity.
But right now I am just a memory, so close your eyes And remember me, because in that moment, I am not so far away as it may seem.

| Day 237
Astronomers 4/10/12
I came to this town not knowing anyone A young mind and soul prepared to learn. How was I to know that all my stars would soon align? When I found you in my constellation, I knew it was a sign.
Like Romeo and Juliet we were destined to be From that moment your eyes met mine and you set me free. We studied the stars and the galaxies But even clearer than the telescope, I could see you and me.
If you were an astronaut, we would fly to the moon But time is passing by so quickly, and much too soon. I haven’t seen your ocean blue eyes for a while And I can feel my heart breaking, slowly as the earth spins.
The seasons are changing and the leaves are green again Spring is here, and I am left longing for you my friend. Your quirky jokes, and your attitude Words cannot even begin to express my deep gratitude.
Like the song by Bruno Mars, Talking to the Moon I sing to it every night, just trying to get to you Because I miss you, my beloved, where do you go? Where the sea meets the sand, and the lighthouse glows.
I hope we meet again, because I know this is not the end This is only the beginning of our lives my long-lost friend. Because how was I to know that all my stars were to align? From that moment I found you in my constellation, I knew it was a sign. ***
The Waiting Post – 4/10/12
Calm like the sea But I’m a raging storm Lighthouse glows Come find me.
Message in a bottle But you’re hard to read Encrypted notes That I’m trying to see.
Stained glass Is a mystery Beautiful pictures But what do they mean?
Like a kaleidoscope All the colors Twists and turns I want to learn.
Burning like a fire A flame that never dies My desire The flames are rising higher.
Fire and ice You burn while I shiver Silver and gold Flowing like a river.
The bird and his song And we hum along Trees sway And I whisper, “Please stay.”
More colors and the sun sets Time to go, time for rest I’ll be here waiting when tomorrow comes With the wake of the morning sun.
Our feet are quick Telling us to run But our hearts say stay And my feet don’t move from the place in which I am standing.

| Day 213
3/17/12- The Time Capsule
I closed my eyes and waited I waited for a long time Waited until the sand ran out And then I watched it a second time.
I closed my eyes and listened I listened for a long time Listened until the rain ran dry And I listened until I could not cry.
I closed my eyes and dreamed I dreamed for a long time Dreamed until I could disappear And I disappeared inside the dream.
I closed my eyes and started running I ran for a long time Ran until I couldn’t run anymore And then I started again.
I closed my eyes and found you I found you just sitting there You had been sitting there for a long time And I watched you for a long time.
We closed our eyes and just sat there We sat there for a long time We waited until the sun went down And then we opened our eyes.
We didn’t have to say a word Because we already knew Everything there was to say Had already been said And with that we nodded and parted our ways And said goodbye to all our yesterdays, “See you tomorrow.”
I closed my eyes and waited I waited for a long time Waited until you came around And I watched you come right out of the clouds.
And as you took your seat right next to me I didn’t say a word, and neither did you Because we already knew that everything was and is how it was supposed to be from now until eternity.

| Day 213
3/17/12- The Island
I love the pieces That do not fit together. I fix my hair On days that upset with the weather.
My clothes do not match And I never carry cash But I never go broke Because I’ve got a hidden stash.
I talk quietly And I listen to words I’d rather not speak Then pretend I’m being heard.
I take notes And I notice small things So I won’t forget When the thunder strikes and with rain it brings.
I keep to myself But I want to let you in Only it’s hard to sometimes When I feel like I’m the only one giving in.
I don’t ask for much And I don’t expect it in return I am polite when I ask And I always wait my turn.
But sometimes I am human Sometimes the other me shows The part of me I hide away The part that only a few knows.
I worry too much There’s birds nesting in my stomach There’s spiders in my hair And I can’t sleep again tonight. I toss and turn and won’t sleep My mind is full but I cannot think My dreams do not comfort me, But how could you have known?
That I am just a fragment of a whole I’ve buried myself so deep And sometimes I can’t see through the window The words don’t come when I try to speak.
I am the pieces That do not fit together I am the eye of the storm Upsetting the weather.
I need you to calm my sea I need you to come and rescue me This will be my last message in a bottle And I hope it reaches you in time.
Because I have been here all this time, And I’ll still be waiting here until the day I die.
